Work / CBC Sports Hockey Night Pulse
Case Study
Three years ago CBC Sports turned to Uproot to give fans the complete Stanley Cup Playoff experience and we delivered the Hockey Night Playoff Tracker. This post-season CBC Sports and Microsoft turned to us to create an experience that allowed fans to capture the social pulse of every series while showcasing the HTML5 capabilities of the recently launched Internet Explorer 9 browser.
With the playoffs about to begin, Uproot designed and built an infographic-based Web experience that allows fans to view Twitter activity around any playoff series in a competitive, heads-up format.
Through a custom-built social activity tracking engine, built on cutting edge JavaScript frameworks such as node.js and MongoDB, and an equally powerful interface leveraging HTML5 canvas elements and jQuery, fans are able view fan social activity lined up with real-time game data, as it happens.
Pulling together a plethora of frameworks and APIs in a captivating and elegant interface, Uproot once again delivered on the goal to give fans a new way to experience the most exciting post-season in sports.
